Chinese boy gets head stuck in car sunroof

Story highlights

Instead, a 3-year-old boy had managed to get his head stuck in a car sunroof.

According to police, the boy was playing on the front passenger's seat while his father was driving in Taicang city, Jiangsu province, on April 21.

The boy stuck his head through the sunroof and at the same time hit the button causing it to close on his neck, police said. Once closed, it wouldn't open.

Video from state broadcaster CCTV shows firefighters using a jaws of life to pry open the sunroof, which caused the glass to shatter.

The boy was stuck for half an hour before being freed, unharmed.

It's not the first time firefighters in China have had to save people in tight predicaments.

Last year, a woman was trapped between two walls trying to retrieve something she dropped, while in 2014 two children got stuck between walls in separate incidents, according to state media.

After this latest incident, police in Taicung posted a reminder on social media reminding parents not to let their children lean out of windows while traveling.
